Thinking and Acting Local
Canada’s municipalities are the front lines of sustainable development – over 80% of Canadians live in an urban setting. Most municipalities are required to produce an official plan to set out a vision and approach to the orderly development of the community.
An emerging trend for municipalities is to look at an integrated neighbourhood approach to development – the urban village. Definitely a concept worth supporting because it focuses on creating a diverse and livable neighbourhood that is walkable and has lots of amenities.
